OS Specific Detailed Instructions

To start the FileReplicationPro replication on a server:

Please note:  During installation on Windows and Mac, you may set FRP to automatically start right after the installation.  Before manually starting FRP, please ensure FRP is not already running.  (See note below) The  FRP Replication service is the only service that should be run on all of your source and destination servers with the exception of the one server chosen to be your management server.

Using the example for your OS from below you will start FRPRep, FRPHelp and FRPMgmt in that order on the one and ONLY machine which you have chosen to be your management server.

  Windows:

Start the “FRP Replication Server” Service.

FRP runs as a service on Windows. By default, it uses the local account.  If you need more access privileges (e.g. the local account does not normally have access to network drives), make sure to change to a more suitable account.

Verify that the other two services (FRP Config Mgmt and FRP Helper) are not started and are set to “manual” startup type.

The Replication Service on Windows Machines can be manually started with the following command in a terminal. While located in the /FileReplicationPro install folder.

FRPRep.cmd

 Linux / Unix / Solaris / HPUX:

Startup scripts are not created by the installer on Linux,  you will need to create your own startup scripts to have FRP restarted automatically at boot time.

Execute:

Cd  /root/FileReplicationPro  (or the installation directory you chose)

Notice that versions from 6.5.4 on have the extension of .sh  as in FRPRep.sh

nohup ./FRPRep &

Make sure you are running with admin privileges.  In some cases (such as Ubuntu) you’ll need to execute:

sudo  ./FRPRep &

 Mac OS X:

During installation startup scripts are installed for FRP to start services on reboots.  The following is for manual starting and stopping from the terminal.

Versions prior to Yosemite

Change to the “Applications/FileReplicationPro” directory

Execute the following command: “sudo systemstarter start FRPRep”

To stop FRP use the above syntax except the command stop in place of start.

The same syntax is used for the Management and Helper apps that run on the Management machine.

Make sure you are running with admin privileges.

For Yosemite and after

cd /Applications/FileReplicationPro

To start FRP issue the command "open FRPRep.app"

To stop FRP issue the command "open StopFileReplicationPro.app
"

The same syntax is used for the Management and Helper apps that run on the Management machine.

 Netware:

Execute “sys:/filereplicationpro/frprep.ncf”
