FRP Licensing Policy

You will need a license for each machine that is running a copy of the Replication Server (FRPRep) software on it. This is every machine that serves as a partner in the replication process as a source or target for replication.

In most cases,  this means a customer will require a minimum of 2 licenses to use FRP.  The only exceptions would be if you use FRP to replicate files between drives\volumes or folders on the same machine or when using a NAS with a UNC path.

The management server and it's helper service do not require a license. They may be co-located with a replication server or installed on a different machine.  It is important that only one management server is running on the network, more than one instance of the management server will cause serious problems.  One management server can control all your replication nodes whether on the same lan or anywhere else around the world.

License keys are coded to server or workstation OS.

Examples of a workstation OS are Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS 10.X, Ubuntu Desktop 11.X etc.  If the machine has server functions being used in the OS it will not license as a workstation.

Your licenses are good forever, they do not expire. Support and upgrades are renewable annually for each server. You can also move your licenses to new machines even with different operating systems.

Support Licensing

Annual support / upgrades  is the only optional on going cost.  Each license requires an annual support contract 2 licenses = 2 annual support, 5 licenses requires 5 annual support etc.  If support lapses for a long period it will cost more to reinstate upgrade rights which is prorated by the annual support amount (Currently $89 per server)  on the period of lapsed support coverage.

For example if support lapsed for 2 years and the customer wants to reinstate to get an upgrade the cost is $89.00 X 2 per server.  The calculation is like this  2 Servers X $89 = $178 X 2 Years = $356.00

Open File Manager

The OFM (Open File Manager) is an optional add on for windows and is licensed separately per server.  You will need one license for each server that has locked system, application, or database files on it that need to be replicated. You do not need an OFM license (or installation)for the destination server if it is only to be used to store copies of the replicated files.
