TCP/IP connection timeout
Problem:
This article describes potential communication timeout issues with FRP and firewalls
Solution:
Users should be aware that their firewall may enforce a default inactivity timeout on any TCP connection. This means that after a default amount of time (typically 5 minutes), the firewall will close the TCP connection that was opened up by FRP if there is no traffic over this link during this time. This type of firewall setup can be expected to interfere with FRP particularly when replicating large files. For large file replication, there is an initial phase during which FRP is busy calculating file differences. During this phase there is no TCP traffic over the connection. To prevent the firewall from closing the connection during this phase, we recommend that the user increase the inactivity timeout to a larger value (e.g. 1 hour).
