Sometimes there is a need to move a replication server to new hardware.  This method will permit such a move and minimize the work involved.

If you move the hardware to a new site with FRP already installed, and the IP address changes you can ignore the section in the directions below that refers to copying the program files for FRP over to the new hardware.  Proceed with the steps to edit the configuration.xml file on the management server and the steps following that.

Critical Point: You should have one and only one management server no matter how many replication servers you have.

See the page how move a management server   if you have a management server that needs to be moved.

BEFORE PROCEEDING:

Stop the FRPRep service on the old replication server

FRPRep

Also You MUST Stop the FRP services on the Management server show below,

FRPRep

FRPHelp

FRPMgmt

  THEN wait 10 minutes.

On the mangement server - Make a backup copy of the /FileReplicationPro/etc/configuration.xml file before proceeding.

Steps:

You must install the same version of FRP on the new replication server using the installer prior to doing the next steps.

Then check to make sure the 3 FRP....   services were not started by the installer even if you selected not to start them.  If started, kill them and wait 10 minutes.

Next copy the /FileReplicationPro/etc folder from the old server to the new server,  remember if you are moving a 32 bit install of FRP (versions 6.5.1 or older are all 32 bit) to a 64 bit windows OS, you must install your backup of FRP in the C:\Program Files (x86) folder

Note: IF neither the host name or the IP have changed, you do not need to make any changes to the configuration files and you can skip following steps then start only the FRPRep service and you are done.

Go to the Management server,  the FRP services should have been stopped for 10 minutes or more.

You will edit the /FileReplicationPro/etc/configuration.xml file with a plain text (not xml) editor to contain the new IP and host name of the new replication server.

Search and replace every occurrence of the old replication server's hostname  regardless of case, upper or lower case is not critical.  Replace with the new hostname.

Search and replace EVERY occurrence of your old server's host name that occurs in the file until the end with the hostname of your new replication server.

Next you will search for and replace the old  IP address(s) of your replication server wherever it occurs.  You may find the server IP address in tags with different names,  replace each of the IPs wherever it occurs and as many times as it occurs.

Example:

<IPAddress>10.0.0.2</IPAddress>  This is one of the internal IP addresses to search and replace,  there may be several more internal or external IPs you will need to search and replace for.    IF the old server had more IP addresses IE: 10 IP addresses and the new server will only have 5 IPs,  search for each of the extra old IPs and replace them with 0.0.0.0 all the way through the file.

Look for the Sequence taq near the top of the tile  <Sequence>224</Sequence> Whatever the number is for the sequence increase it by 10.

Save the file.

Make sure the old replication server is not running any of the old services.

Copy the edited configuration file from the management server to the new replication server.

The destination path for any jobs that the old server was running must be created on the new machine.  Copy any data for those folders to the new machine.

Start the FRPRep service on the new replication server. Disable the starting of FRPHelp and FRPMgmt on this server.

On the Management server, Start the FRPRep service followed by FRPHelp and FRPMgmt.

Wait  5 to 10 minutes.

Verify the settings in the GUI of the management server that the new replication server has the correct IP address and host name.

When everything is verified,  remove the FRP software from the old replication server.
